Studio Legal advises Formo on $ 61 Million Series B Financing Round

The Berlin startup Formo has raised $ 61 million in its Series B financing round.

The food startup has become the world's first manufacturer to bring animal-free cheese alternatives made with proteins from the Koji fungus to the market. Since the beginning of September, three types of cream cheese alternative have been available in 2,000 Rewe stores, at Billa in Austria, and at Metro in Germany. Formo uses proteins produced by the Koji fungus through microfermentation, which closely resembles whey protein, to manufacture these market-available products.

The fresh capital will be used, among other things, to increase production capacity, advance the internationalization of the products, and expand the precision fermentation research.

Studio Legal has been advising Formo since the company was founded.

Formo was advised by Sohrab Beheshtipour, Cristina Varela, Julian Rindler, and Inga Brill (all Venture Capital).
